'Green' Renewable Chemicals and Materials from Forestry and Aquaculture byproducts

Project Description
Opportunities are available for students (undergraduates and graduates), research associates/postdoctoral fellows and academic or industrial collaborators to become involved in this project. The overall goals are to prepare value-added materials (e.g. plastics, composite materials, chemicals, biofuels) from waste-streams of the forestry and fishery industries. For example, using 'green' methods we are at the start of the journey to produce biofuel precursors from shrimp and crabshell, and from wood-sugars.
